What do our bootcamp classes involve?

Boiled down the core, our Bootcamp Classes are high intensity interval training (HIIT) classes. We incorporate boxing techniques into an intense full body and ab workout that burns calories and increases your strength, stamina, and cardio fitness levels. Our classes are suitable for all and are delivered by a qualified and experienced instructor.

But what is HIIT and why should you care?

HIIT is engineered for those who want to achieve the health benefits of a normal workout in a shorter amount of time. Essentially, it involves alternating periods of intense exercise with recovery periods consisting of a lower intensity workout. These intense exercise periods should be shorter than their counterparts and should significantly raise your heart rate in that time.As well as being a time saving workout plan, HIIT also provides a number of unique health and fitness benefits, such as:
  • Lowering your body fat and increasing muscle mass. As with any workout plan, HIIT can reduce the amount of fat stored by your body and increase your overall muscle mass percentage.
  • Burning calories in a shorter amount of time. HIIT allows you to burn the same number of calories that you would in a normal workout whilst spending less time exercising, which is why it has become popular amongst those with busy schedules.
  • Reducing your blood sugar. Not only that, but it can also improve insulin resistance. HIIT is, therefore, a particularly attractive exercise for those at risk of or living with type 2 diabetes.
  • Reducing your heart rate and blood pressure. For some people, HIIT is capable of positively influencing heart rates and blood pressure levels.
  • A higher metabolic rate. This benefit actually presents itself after the exercise has finished. HIIT is capable of increasing your metabolic rate for hours, even after you have stopped exercising.
  • An improved oxygen consumption. Oxygen consumption is your muscles’ ability to use oxygen and, whilst endurance training is normally used to improve it, HIIT can also do so in a shorter amount of time.
